Proper dental health is an ongoing practice because your mouth, teeth, and gums are always with you year round. As Summer gets closer and our lovely Carolina town gets warmer and brighter, we can’t help but smile. But did you know that the summertime conditions can have an impact on your dental health?
Sweats & Sweet Drinks: As we know when it gets hot, we sweat. Sweating can cause you to become slowly dehydrated if you are not drinking enough throughout the day so be sure to drink plenty of water! Be wary of sugary and acidic beverages and drink them in moderation as overuse of them can cause enamel breakdown of your teeth.
Sunshine: We all know how wonderful sunshine is and the nutrients our bodies absorb from it such as Vitamin D. Vitamin D production is essential for your body to absorb and use Calcium which will keep your bones strong, including your jawbone that supports your teeth! Vitamin D and Calcium are the basic building blocks of your teeth as well.
Be sure to take care of your teeth this summer and if you have any questions or need any help from your local, family dentistry, give us a call today! Progressive Family Dentistry is here for you and your family!
