Enjoy summer just a little bit longer by enjoying the best Farmers Market Summerville has to offer!!
It might be closer to back to school than many of our young patients might like to admit, but there are still many beautiful and very warm days left to keep that summer spirit alive! One of the best activities to keep summer alive is enjoying our incredible farmers market here in Summerville! You can still enjoy the beautiful weather, buy those sun fresh fruits and veggies, and support your favorite local artists and restaurants by buying some beautiful gifts and tasty treats!
Do you know how the Summerville Farmers market got it start? Let’s turn back time a little bit and remember, shall we? In 1991, the town of Summerville was had fallen on extremely hard times. 40% of its buildings were standing empty and open. But thanks to two very special lifelong residents of our town, Rick Sutton and Cada McCoy, they joined up with hundreds of Summerville locals and formed DREAM, a nonprofit organization that focused on the revitalization of Downtown! 1992 brought the dawning of DREAM and its incredible mission to bring focus and loving support to the resides of Summerville along with celebrating and preserving its history. This revitalization lead to the support of Downtown and its vendors – bringing them to the people and the people to them. What better than a farmers market to show off the best of what Summerville has to offer?
You can come and enjoy these wonderful markets every Saturday from 8 AM to 1 PM and browse everything from local produce, baked goods, seafood, meats and more. The market is located in the First Citizens Bank parking lot behind Town Hall at 200 South Main Street. The market is always open rain or shine, and parking is always free in the Town Hall parking garage. While you’re shopping you can enjoy live music from 10 AM to 1 PM in the Market Cafe, too!
The next marks in August are the 17th, 24th, and 31st. You have until November 23 to enjoy the Farmers Market and that will be here before you know it. The Holiday Market will be on December 14th this year, and then it won’t be open again until 2020. So come enjoy our beautiful town with your friends, family, and neighbors before this little taste of summertime slips away.
